If you have a modest income and a simple tax situation, you might be able to get help from a volunteer at a free tax clinic.<\/p><p>A modest income is less than $35,000 for a single person and less than $45,000 for a couple. Your tax situation is simple if, for example, you don\u2019t have a small business or income from a rental property.<\/p><p>Volunteers can help with your taxes for this year, and it is possible to get them to help you do your taxes going back 10 years.<\/p><p>Doing your taxes is the only way to continue or start to receive the credit and benefit payments you may be eligible for, including the Canada child benefit or the GST\/HST credit. If you have direct deposit, these payments will go directly into your bank account.<\/p><p>How do free tax clinics work?<br \/>Community groups, such as charities and non-profit organizations, host free tax clinics through the Community Volunteer Income Tax Program.
